We will start up the band again in May 2009 when Freja returns to Sweden. Freja is currently studying her first year on the Bluegrass, OldTime and Country music program at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN.

Our CD From Mountainlake to Riverside was reviewed in Bluegrass Unlimited recently. The CD was also played by WLUW in Chicago and recently by Mike Kear on http://bluegrasscountry.org/

Freja Bluegrass Band was founded in 2004 when Freja Jakobsson was 15 years old. She had just learned to play the banjo and formed the band along with her father Thorsten who plays the guitar. In 2005 fiddle player Philip Runsteen joined and he has since then played the fiddle in the band. Finally in 2006 Björn  Eriksson joined. Björn plays mandolin, but also dobro and bass on the bands recordings. In 2008 Philip has switched to bass and new fiddle player is Björn Klingvall who is a very experienced fiddleplayer.

The band has its base in Floda and Göteborg on the swedish westcoast and it has been busy playing around Sweden and Scandinavia. It can be seen perform live about 15-20 times a year. The band plays traditional bluegrass music and has played at many festivals, for example Lida Country festival in Stockholm, Gränna OldTime and country festival, Risör Bluegrassfestival in Norway.

In 2008, the band performed at the European World of Bluegrass in La Roche sur Foron in France.
